Metropolitan Theodosius (Lazor) and Bishop Mark (Petrovtsiy) were present at this assembly, and they both participated actively. Metropolitan Theodosius brought with him the blessing of Holy Relics of Saint Innocent of Alaska and Moscow.

This assembly took place a year early (from the 3-year cycle's perspective) because of the general assembly of The Orthodox Church in America which was to take place in 1999.

Details of this 1998 assembly were published in “The Canadian Orthodox Messenger”, in the Autumn issue. The main focus of this assembly was the family. The main speaker, Archpriest Paul Jannakos, spoke eloquently about the centrality of the family in living out the Orthodox Christian Faith, and how the Orthodox Christian Faith nurtures the family (not merely the "nuclear" family).

Their activities included studies of the Holy Scriptures with a view to their relationship with the Lord, and managing to live in the present environment. There were many activities besides.
