The Canadian Diocesan Assembly 1987 was hosted by Saint Herman of Alaska Orthodox Mission Church in Edmonton AB on June 11-13,1987.
His Beatitude Metropolitan Theodosius chaired the Assembly.

The preparations for the Assembly were very thorough.
Metropolitan Theodosius (Lazor) arrived for the assembly along with Bishop Nathaniel (Popp) and Bishop Boris (Geeza).
It was at the first Diocesan Assembly hosted by Saint Herman’s. This assembly actually set the template for how future councils would be organised.
Financial reports from Canadian Parishes were held, as well as, accounts of Parish life.
Nominations to the Diocesan Council and Metropolitan Council were conducted respectively.
Diocesan Assembly in Edmonton, 1987

On June 13th 1987, after the conclusion of the assembly, 3 bishops ordained the Archimandrite Seraphim (Storheim) to the Holy Episcopate. He was named the Bishop of Edmonton, Auxiliary Bishop Canadian Diocese, a Vicar-Bishop to Metropolitan Theodosius.
The consecration was performed by His Beatitude Metropolitan Theodosius and Bishop Boris Of Chicago & Bishop Nathaniel of Detroit at the mission church of St. Herman Of Alaska.
Bishop Seraphim succeeded the reposed Bishop Ioasaph (Antoniuk) to this title.

On June 14th, 1987 Divine Liturgy was held in the village church of Holy Trinity - Stary Vostok (Alberta). This church has commemorated its 90th anniversary. The Divine Liturgy was performed by His Beatitude Metropolitan Theodosius, together with Bishop Nathaniel of Detroit, and Bishop Seraphim of Edmonton with full clergy.
